Features of Transporting Different Types of Engines
Depending on design and operating principles, engines can be classified as electric, external combustion, or internal combustion. Engines are used in various vehicles — from cars to jet skis — as well as in machinery and industrial equipment. Due to maintenance needs or breakdowns, it`s often necessary to transport an engine to a service center. Considering their size, volume, and complexity, transportation requires supporting documents and licenses. Common types of engines transported include:
- diesel;
- steam;
- gasoline;
- electric.
Based on design, internal combustion engines may be rotary, opposed (boxer), V-shaped, or inline. Rotary engines are also known as Wankel engines. Opposed engines have cylinders positioned opposite each other. V-shaped engines have cylinders set at an angle, and inline engines are known for their simplicity and low maintenance costs.
How to Properly Prepare an Engine for Transport
Regardless of the type, the engine should always be transported in an upright position — just as it is installed in the vehicle or equipment. A 4-stroke engine must never be laid on its side to prevent mixing of oil and other fluids, which would require cleaning and disassembly. The load must be securely fastened and properly cushioned.
Choosing the Right Vehicle for Engine Transportation
Transport selection depends on distance. For local deliveries, a light-duty truck may suffice. For longer or intercity routes, or international shipments, a closed-body vehicle is recommended to protect against weather, dirt, and condensation. Regardless of distance, the transport vehicle must be equipped with proper securing systems — the engine must be firmly fixed in place. The vehicle must also support the weight and dimensions of the engine.
EA Logistic (Poland) factors in the technical handling requirements for each engine type and builds them into a fixed price in euros (EUR) or Polish zloty (PLN) — no extra charges for specialist transport conditions.
Technical Aspects of Engine Transportation
The vehicle used must protect the engine from precipitation and extreme temperatures. During transport, the engine must remain stable and securely fastened. To ensure these conditions, it’s best to rely on EA Logistic. We handle engine deliveries throughout Poland, and to other European countries including Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, France, and more, as well as to Turkey and Ukraine.
