Transportation of Alcohol by Road in Poland and Across Europe: Logistics, Regulations, and Safety Measures
Transporting alcoholic beverages differs significantly from handling other types of goods. The main requirement imposed by legislation on both the consignee and the logistics provider is a valid license. Without proper authorization and compliance with established regulations, moving alcohol is prohibited. Due to its chemical properties, alcohol is classified as hazardous cargo. High CO₂ pressure in beverage containers, flammability, and explosion risk due to ethanol content necessitate strict adherence to the following:
- Selecting appropriate transport vehicles for beer or other alcoholic products;
- Maintaining the correct temperature range;
- Proper fixation and securing of the product;
- Accurate documentation.
Vehicles transporting alcohol must be free from foreign odors. Alcoholic containers are not always fully sealed and may absorb unwanted smells, altering the taste. Products are shipped in boxes with specific stacking height regulations. Packaging is secured with straps and tensioners. Beverages are typically transported in refrigerated trucks or insulated tankers.
Transporting Vodka and Beer: Safety Measures and Temperature Requirements
Alcohol must be transported in enclosed vehicles, as both natural and artificial light can negatively affect product quality. The transport vehicles themselves must generate minimal vibration to preserve the flavor — with the exception of certain aged wines that benefit from slight agitation.
Alcohol transport by a logistics company requires full documentation, including a transport license, invoice, bill of lading, and a certificate of conformity. All documents are prepared in accordance with Polish and European law.
During transportation, a strict temperature range must be maintained. Alcohol must not be transported in extreme cold or heat. The ideal range is between +10°C and +15°C. For international transport from Ukraine to countries such as Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, France, and Turkey, refrigerated vehicles are used.

How EA Logistic Transports Ethanol Safely
Containers holding ethanol are transported in a strictly upright position. Ethanol is a highly flammable and explosive substance. As temperature rises, the liquid expands. If containers are completely filled without headspace, there's a significant risk of explosion. That's why EA Logistic ensures each reservoir is filled no more than 90%, complying with the highest safety standards for alcohol transportation. Pricing is quoted in Polish zloty (PLN) or euros (EUR). Submit a request on our website or contact your manager — we'll handle everything from paperwork to delivery.
